Fair Credit

Good credit is extremely important, even if you don’t use credit on a daily basis. The chances are good that one day you’re going to make a major purchase and have to take out a loan to pay for it. If you don’t have good credit, banks and loaning offices may be hesitant to loan you thousands of dollars for this major purchase, and it only makes sense. The importance of good credit in today’s financial environment can’t be stressed enough.

If you have mediocre credit, and want to turn it into good credit, the process is fairly simple. Pay your bills (in full and on time), don’t overextend yourself, set realistic financial goals, and do your best to avoid impulsive spending. Paying your bills on time may sound very simple, but it is what gets many credit card customers into deep trouble. Even one day late is considered “late” on your credit report. As far as paying your balance in full, we realize it may be difficult to do at times. If you find it hard to pay off the card, try to at least double the minimum payment.

If you keep your “available balance” in mind, you can avoid overextending yourself. Before you apply for a credit card, examine your spending and work out a realistic budget. Doing so will help you pay your bills while remaining able to live comfortably. Setting realistic financial goals and staying on top of your payments are the keys to turning your average or mediocre credit into a spectacular credit score.
